Mine wakes at 11 sometimes 9.30 if he's feeling lively!
I think some members do wake theirs up earlier though

It depends on the hamster When we first had Charlie (we got him in the Summer months) he was out and about in the evenings. But once it got to winter he wouldn't come out much before 11pm and mostly that is his habit although sometimes a bit earlier.

I did what our RSPCA book suggested - which was to wake them at about the same time each evening (say 6pm or 7pm) if the pet belongs to a child, so they can interact. You wake them by being a bit noisy while putting the food out, a bit of noise cage door opening for example. This gradually wakes them and they will either come out to investigate or you can tempt them out with a treat in the end of a tube (that's what we used to do!)

The RSPCA book says it's fine to do that but best if it's done around the same time each night. So we wake our hamster for his out of cage time early evening.

Thank you serendipit7000, you have been really helpful today. At about 8ish tonight my youngest (9) sat in her room reading to daisy. She woke up. She seems to like her voice.

Aww that's really sweet My hammy doesn't wake up at a specific time but does tend to be awake quite early, 7 or 8 normally.

It depends on the type of personality your hammy has. Hamsters that have a lazy personality may sleep later into the night. While lively and playful hamsters may wake up early.
Sometimes, the hamster will wake up due to your schedule, if they want to spend time with you.

Me personally I like to get Beans out multiple times a day, so whenever I get the chance I take her out.

Pip often gets up during the day about 10-10.30 am for a couple of hours, and at night she can be up about 7pm or not get up till 9-10pm I guess it depends on how she feels, when she is up about 7pm she always wants out into her ball, it is just her personality I suppose.

We have only had them a couple of days but it seems daisy is the lively one out of the two of them. She is happy to get up at about 7. Rolo stays in bed much later. Rolo is quite shy and a little jumpy so we are taking it slow with him. Daisy is the complete opposite. As soon as she sees us she runs to the bars. And when she sees her ball she goes to the door. So cute. I put my hand in yesterday as she had tipped her food and she climbed on my hand and up my.

Lol! Their names seem to describe them! Daisy sounds like a kind of lively name and Rolo sounds like a lazy man ham ha ha.
