Jumping?!
So earlier I was holding Willow, and out of the blue she jumped half a foot in the air and nearly went under my bed!! I held her for another ten minutes after that and she was fine.
Was there something that frightened her? I've never seen this in a hamster before

Re: Jumping?!
Charlie used to do that sometimes before he was tame - I think it's called "pinging" although that's usually when they jump out of your hands.

Re: Jumping?!
She did just that!
You said they do that when they're not completely tame - Willow's been tame for the past 5 months and has been completely happy in my hands and has stayed in them for over half and hour

Re: Jumping?!
I guess they can do it after they're tame as well lol. I know if Charlie wants to be off he'd try and jump. These days he mainly just wriggles his way out so I can't hold him lol.

Re: Jumping?!
Rats, guinea pigs, rabbits and chinchillas 'popcorn' or 'binky' sometimes when they are happy- they just spring up and do a little wriggle. The videos are really cute! Was it like that? I don't know if hamsters do that though?
