my hamster is crazy!

i have had my syrian girl hamster bambi about 3 weeks now and shes behaving rather odd, ive never had a young hamster before so to be honest i dont know what to expect, but one thing ive seen is she keeps lying down in a heap in her wheel, or in her sawdust, just like random places, still with her eyes open, and im worried shes to hot or not drinking enough or something or is this normal, my boyfriend said shes probably just comfortable doing it but i dont see how the ridges in the wheel is comfy??
Also she is so eratic on a night time, she goes mad, she bites just about everything, its a plastic tub cage, and she bites where the handles are, and she also jumps about and scrape's at the plastic walls with her claws for hours and hours , and not only is it so annoying when your trying to sleep, im a bit worried about why she is doing this as i let her out for time in her zoomer ball. I havnt had her out the cage yet except in a zoomer ball as shes so fast, i havnt actually picked her up either but i try stroke her and talk to her! she also knocks over her wheel and attacks it!!

She sounds typical of a youngster chavvy. They are so full of beans until they settle. I would recommend you get right round to taming her now. She will have a much richer life and she can run about the bed and stair climb and explore the sofa etc to run off her energies. How big is the tub? She may enjoy more enrichment in it like pipes and boxes to trash. I'm sure you will see a difference once you get her hand tame. Don't wait much longer. Read the Taming tips section on the WIKI.

Souffle is right... Young hamsters just go crazy and love to bite.. I have had mine for about 3/4 weeks and I was scared of them biting me, but its different when they are on your hands to stroking them in the cage and you willl get used to their speed quite quickly. Good luck with taming, you will be fine but never give up.
