Default Robo itching too much?

Hey everyone! So, my robo dwarf, willow, i've noticed has been itching herself a quite a bit through out the last couple of days. She eats and drinks normally, and is healthy. Why is she itching so much, and is there anything I can do to help?

Is she constantly itching? If so I'd take her in to get a test for mites possibly? My vet said scratching could be dry skin too & to try children's liquid Benadryl? I never did tho & it turned out that my rescue hammie just had a OCD problem for a couple weeks due to the stressful living conditions he was enduring, but it went away.

Vet said to check for mites if the hamster is scratching constantly. Hope this helps?

There could be other reasons like allergies too?

Is she on pine woodshavings? That can make them itchy. Yup I agree with cinnamonbear, hams can get two sorts of mites, ones living in their skin that you can't see which they are often infested with from birth, and ones that you can see on the outside. Some look like tiny black specks when they are adults and some look like tiny bits of skin moving around. They can also be bitten by cat and dog fleas. You could see if changing the bedding works before you fork out on a vet trip but if the itching is persistent and looks uncomfortable I'd take her to a vet straight away as some itchy conditions are easy to treat. A member from the US told me you can't get spot on treatment for mites over there though.

The under the skin mites can cause hair loss in a hamster because they can't be seen but, very itchy and annoying for the ham. Over here it's a course of three injections over the space of 4 weeks to kill the mites.
So a trip to the vet will help your ham.
