Re: Helllpppppp!!!!!
So do you think he chewed something and it damaged his pouch? It sounds like that could be possible. I think you need to take him to the vet in the morning. I'm not sure there is much you can do right now, but one of the health experts will probably know more.

Re: Helllpppppp!!!!!
I am not sure. Its does not look cut or like it is bleeding. I looks like he got an smear of water or oil on his cheek I will have to make my first vet visit with a hamster in the morning

Re: Helllpppppp!!!!!
There might not be any blood on the outside, but if it has cut inside it could be like a bruise or blood blister type thing. Damaged pouches should be looked at really. Did you see what it was he chewed?

Re: Helllpppppp!!!!!
Yes it was the horizontal bit on wire across the vertical pieces I think. Hope that makes sense.

Re: Helllpppppp!!!!!
UPDATE: I think the was chewing the horizontal wire and has sunflower seeds in his pouch and got caught. In a panic he trashed but easily escaped. I am not sure what the dark patch is??? He is fine with me massaging it and ate a sliver of banana without a problem. I do have lemon juice on the bars to discourage chewing but not on the playpen bars? Could it be lemon juice from his cage which I didn't notice??? He is acting perfectly normal? I am going crazy?

Re: Helllpppppp!!!!!
I should just take him to the vet in the morning It sounds like he needs a checkover and to rule anything out.

Re: Helllpppppp!!!!!
I don't want to worry you, but their pouches, if pierced can cause some issues and pouches can prolapse as well (I saw one like this recently on here and the hamster died before treatment). So if there is any chance the pouch lining could have been punctured it's really important he sees a vet to avoid any possible complications.

Thank you for the advice. I brought him to the vet this morning and it is all okay. I was lemon juice and he is perfectly healthy. He got his nails cut before they get too long and I am heading to the petshop this afternoon to get even more chews. Thank you soo much Serendipity
