Default Helllpppppp!!!!!

So my previous threads have explained how my male Syrian hamster (who's cage and wheel and everything is perfect) is a big monkey barrer and chewer now. So I had read nearly everywhere that boredom was a big factor. I knew he had a great cage ect. but I made some toilet roll climbing toys. As I was making the he was in his playpen while I was supervising for inside it with him btw. I hear his start chewing to my despair and start to look around but then he starts trashing around and I am in shock. About 2 seconds later he bolts into a house. He hides there for 5 mins and I leave him inside as he must be stressed and shocked. Once he emerges I notice a 'darker' patch on his left pouch area. I totally stress out and come straight here. I could find any photos that resemble it but I've read many horror stories PLEASE HELP!!! I don't know what to do. There is no blood and now he is in his cage happily trotting around and still monkey barring but not chewing??? Even a way to clean/ find out is it even cut??? PLEASE I AM FREAKING OUT

So do you think he chewed something and it damaged his pouch? It sounds like that could be possible. I think you need to take him to the vet in the morning. I'm not sure there is much you can do right now, but one of the health experts will probably know more.

I am not sure. Its does not look cut or like it is bleeding. I looks like he got an smear of water or oil on his cheek I will have to make my first vet visit with a hamster in the morning

There might not be any blood on the outside, but if it has cut inside it could be like a bruise or blood blister type thing. Damaged pouches should be looked at really. Did you see what it was he chewed?

Yes it was the horizontal bit on wire across the vertical pieces I think. Hope that makes sense.

UPDATE: I think the was chewing the horizontal wire and has sunflower seeds in his pouch and got caught. In a panic he trashed but easily escaped. I am not sure what the dark patch is??? He is fine with me massaging it and ate a sliver of banana without a problem. I do have lemon juice on the bars to discourage chewing but not on the playpen bars? Could it be lemon juice from his cage which I didn't notice??? He is acting perfectly normal? I am going crazy?

I should just take him to the vet in the morning It sounds like he needs a checkover and to rule anything out.

I don't want to worry you, but their pouches, if pierced can cause some issues and pouches can prolapse as well (I saw one like this recently on here and the hamster died before treatment). So if there is any chance the pouch lining could have been punctured it's really important he sees a vet to avoid any possible complications.

Thank you for the advice. I brought him to the vet this morning and it is all okay. I was lemon juice and he is perfectly healthy. He got his nails cut before they get too long and I am heading to the petshop this afternoon to get even more chews. Thank you soo much Serendipity
