Default Do Hamsters ever not want to be held?

Hi all, Hope your all good.
Im just wondering about Pebbles,

She is very friendly (and a bit mad lol)
She responds to my voice, will get in and out of her own ball with no trouble,
She Willingly walks onto my hand if I have food on it, she will climb over my hand when I'm filling her food bowl, but wont let me pick her up.
If I try to stroke her, or pick her up,at all she jumps and skitters away, She seems very friendly just doesnt like to be touched, Only if she is doing the touching lol.

Is this normal? Is it just her being a baby? (11 weeks), Or a settling in thing (we've had her 5 weeks), Or has anyone else had a hamster that doesnt like being held.

Thanks in advance for any replies xx

Some hams don't seem to like being held or having their backs touched too much but most will get used to it with time, you haven't really had her that long so she's still young & excitable & probably still getting used to handling so I wouldn't give up on it, just persevere but go slow, if you do pick her up or lift her begin doing it in the cage & only just off the substrate to begin with, barely enough for her to notice & then try lifting her a little higher if she gets comfortable with that.

That's totally normal and you haven't had her long. My Glowy was like that around the same age, now he's a little older (5 months ish) he will sit still on my hands more. I think they are just full of beans and eager to explore at that age!

Ah thats good to know, Ive had many hamster in the past and never had one who will walk all over your hand without a murmur and comes to the bars when I speak, just doesnt like to be touched. I'll just keep trying, Ill do the lifting her in the cage thing, see how she takes to that. Thank you for your replies x
