The new silent spinners just don't work as you've discovered so best avoided, I find the wooden Karlie wonderland wheels the best for my dwarfs, they work well & quietly but do need a coat or two of plastikote before use to pee proof them & make them easy to clean.

Re: My Ham's wheel keeps me up all night!!??!
Agree with Cypher - the Karlie wheels are good wheels and virtually silent. They do need painting with plastikote though. This Silent Spinner business is getting ridiculous - it must be against the trades descriptions act! Definitely try and get a refund for them - it's a known issue.
The other alternative, if you didn't fancy painting a wood wheel, is the 20cm wodent wheel. I find the wodent wheels virtually silent too, but occasionally someone will get a squeaky one - in that case you oil the spindle with vegetable oil. Also it seems to depend where they are placed. I find they work best either hung from the cage bars, or on a platform or stand. They can judder a bit, and move, on the cage floor. The Karlie wheels are nice and stable and sturdy on the cage floor. Here are the links

Both wheels are well made, particularly the Wodent wheels, which come apart and you can get spare parts for them. Some people have had issues with splinters with the wood ones, so they need checking carefully and possibly a light sanding before painting if there are any rough or splintery bits.

Thank you so much guys!! Vaseline basically made the wheel silent until I could order anything else so I will actually be sleeping tonight (!!!).

Love the karlie wheels. Both my roborovskis spend ages whizzing round on theirs. No problems at all. Nice a quiet too (not silent but pretty good).

I read about the Vaseline... I put it on the back of the wheel behind the bars so Henri's teeth can't get to it.
