Re: Why Is My Hammy Dirty?
Update:
Well, I have some great news! After a visit to our local vet, Calypso has been declared healthy besides a few small issues. She somehow became slightly dehydrated which attributed to her stumbling about. The vet gave her a fluid boost (almost like an IV sort of thing), and she seems to be gaining strength already! Unfortunately, she has lost a bunch of weight. 5 months ago (she was still a very young hamster, and she was still growing), Calypso weighed 145 grams. Now she only weighs about 87. Previous to the trip, Calypso was quite bulky and heavy, but I did notice that she had begun to lose some weight (the reason for giving her nuts and other goodies). The vet could not find any abrassions or injuries of the cheeckpouch, but she did prescribe an antiobiotic just in case. Calypso seems to be doing fine now! She is eating a lot more, and she seems more sure-footed! Thanks everyone for all of your kind and generous tips and well-wishes!

Re: Why Is My Hammy Dirty?
Although, she still has that yellow stain on her belly! Even the vet commented on it! I'm not really sure how to get it off, so does anybody have any tips that might help get it off?

Re: Why Is My Hammy Dirty?
I am so glad she's okay climber. Make sure you check her water bottle every two days, just tapping on the nozzle till you see bubbles. I lost a gerbil once when a bottle stopped working. I also keep 2 bottles for each cage just in case.
Honestly, I wouldn't stress over the stain. It isn't something that will hurt her.

Thank you! I really appreciate your and everyone else's concern for her!
This might be a weird question, but is it normal for her poop to change colors? Normally, it is a dark brown pellet. However her most recent "sample" was a rusty brown-red color. It might be attributed to her antibiotics, but it just seemed a little strange as her medicine is white. It is definitely less squishy and soft than it had been these past days, but it is no where near normal consistency or color.

Re: Why Is My Hammy Dirty?
I should keep an eye on the poop and maybe keep a sample? It could be the antibiotics but I don't know - someone else might know! Just keep an eye on it in case there is any blood in it.
Agree with Dr McK about having two water bottles. I'm paranoid about water bottles letting enough water out. I currently have one that is good - always seems to let water out easily but doesn't drip more than one or two drips when first refilled - I'll link it below. It's the best bottle I've used. Even then I still only fill it about 2/3 full and leave the cap very slightly unscrewed which seems to help the water flow. And then I tap my finger under it a few times after filling it to make sure water is coming out easily. Sorry if you already know all this stuff!
Only the other night I found the bottle had drained because clever little hammy had knocked it round and loosened the cap! That morning he came out to the bars and seemed to be looking a bit anxious and wanting attention and it wasn't till later that day I noticed the bottle was empty - so I keep a careful eye on the bottle now! So loosen the cap a little bit, but not too much!

It has a holder that clips to the bars with the holder on the inside of the cage - I have the bottle on the inside of the cage in the holder.

Awesome! Thank you so much for linking that water bottle! Fo you know if it is sold on Amazon? Also, my water bottle is currently attached by Velcro onto my bin cage. Lol!

Re: Why Is My Hammy Dirty?
I found they were expensive on Amazon but they do sell them without the clip (which you don't need anyway!)

What would it be called on Amazon? I'm not sure if I would be able to order it from that other website, as I don't have a credit card or anything like that. I can only use Amazon because I enter in gift cards that I buy from a local store. xD

Re: Why Is My Hammy Dirty?
It's the 75ml Ferplast 'Drinky'. I just checked and they don't seem to have them on Amazon at the moment, except for one seller selling one at a ridiculous £14!. Could you do a swap with someone - eg a parent or something and let them use your voucher for something they want and ask them to order the bottle for you? Or two of them - they're aa good price at Porton Aquatics.
You can get the Classic mouse bottles on Amazon but I was finding I needed to replace those quite regularly as sometimes they did jam up a bit.
