Talking Pixie's Temper Tantrum.

Yep, you read that right. My super cute, butter wouldn't melt in her mouth, Dwarf Hamster, Pixie, had a temper tantrum last night. Literally, a full blown, tip the cage upside down, move everything around, sand bath half emptied, litter tray scattered kinda temper tantrum..

Why, I hear you ask, simply because I put her back into her cage 5 minutes before her usual time from her play pen because she was falling asleep (as was I!).

Had her usual hour in her play pen, then started falling asleep in her lion toy (pictured <---), and there's no bedding in there so it's literally just the plastic on the inside, she'd woken up once or twice and came back out but ultimately ended up back in there and fell asleep for about 5 minutes the last time round, so when she woke up, I scooped her up and put her in her cage, I then went to bed and I woke up this morning to her cage an absolute tip! (Thankfully her nest didn't go anywhere because that's wooden!)

It looked like she had an absolute whale of a time expressing her complete disgust at not being left to sleep in her play pen, although I did leave the lion in the cage in case she was sleeping in there because it was too warm in her nest (because my downstairs neighbour has decided it's winter and his heating is on full 24/7, which is great for me cause I barely use any gas, but not so great for Pixie!).

Figured I'd post about it because it was pretty amusing when I came out and said "wow, what happened here? A hurricane?!" & Pixie just came out of her nest and looked as if to say "Nope, not in here, it's fine!" then proceeded to run around her own made obstacle course!

I found it more amusing since the entire time I've had her (27th June), she's never once attempted to move anything, ever, so I'm pretty sure last night's escapade was a temper tantrum xD
The attitude on her is insane! She's probably got the attitude of a teenager! xD

EDIT: Pictures added - Left is BEFORE her temper tantrum and the right is AFTER she had her tantrum and the "layout" I woke up to. (60 minute makeover, Pixie style!!)

I do actually! I'll put them as soon as I get back to my PC! I forgot I even had them to be honest with you, I was too busy giggling whilst writing this post to even think of the pictures!
I have a feeling there's going to be a whole new mess tomorrow though since she's getting a little less time in the Play pen due to not being awake in time AND I have to be up at silly o'clock tomorrow morning, expecting a whole new mess to tidy then too lol D:

EDIT - Pictures are in the original post now

That's hilarious! Love the before and after pics - the scale of destruction is actually pretty impressive for such a tiny hamster Looks like she had fun though!

I did question how she did that damage, but I assure you, I live alone and my front door was locked and bolted :P, so I'm pretty sure it was her. I heard a few knocks throughout the night but I figured it was outside as I live on a park!

One day I will set my Webcam up on the PC and just record her for the night to see what she gets up to, maybe not on a night where she's been short changed a few minutes in the play pen though xD

I know she tunnels under her litter tray from the house but she's never done it enough for it to totally tip over itself like that, she clearly was on an "I will destruct" mission xD

Oh naughty pixie! Love the before and after pics.
I so wish you had the webcam set up before her destructive tantrum.

lol! she did have fun in there! No worries that she's getting bored with all that to do
I wonder if she's going to make a habit of it now, Mickle loves to sleep in her playpen & there's hell to pay when I can't let her!

I don't mind her sleeping in there at all, but it'd help if she did it when I wasn't falling asleep myself so she could still be supervised.
But also with works currently happening (although I'm 90% sure the noise has stopped) I think she sees her cage as a noisy inconvenience now as she's always trying to get out. But, she's getting loads of fuss and treats whilst the works going on so she should be fine soon

Oh wow, Hurricane Pixie was a force to be reckoned with! Thankfully there have been no reports of casualties
