Hamster peed, please help
Greetings,
This is my fourth days having my hamster and just now I held her, let her walk on my desk and when I held her in my hand and put her on my lap, she peed on my pants.
1. Can someone tell me what to do? I washed my pants afterwards.
2. Can I get contacted with any disease because of that?
3. Is hamster peeing dangerous? Can Leptospirosis caused by its peeing?
4. The pee is odd. not as clear as those of normal human's though, is that normal?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Hamster peed, please help
Hamster pee is thick and milky looking. I would not worry about being peed on. I have been peed on more times than I can count, usually by pups but sometimes from older ones. Just wash up and you will be fine

Hamsters don't carry any diseases, we can't get anything from them but they can get stuff from us. Which is why if you're ill its a good not to handle your hamster. The pee sounds like its normal, yup just wash up and everything is fine. I've had been peed on a lot by my hamsters.

If the pee looks almost like a banana milkshake, its fine! Nothing will happen, you come in contact with their urine cleaning the cage.

Re: Hamster peed, please help
No worse than a baby peeing on you! Except there is less pee lol. She might be 'scent-marking you'. As she gets more familiar with your scent she might stop doing it. Ours rarely pees when he is out of the cage, but very occasionally does while out in his ball. She might also be feeling a bit scared so just try and be relaxed when she is on your knee and don't worry about it. Talk to her gently and give her a little stroke.

Dangerous Beans used to pee in my hand all the time :P Just put them back in their cage for a minute to wash your hands when they do.

Re: Hamster peed, please help
Since its your fourth day with your hamster u Harv to give it at least I'd say 2 Weeks to adjust to its home. Washing your pants is a good thing to do if they pee on u just wash the clothes they peed on. You can't get a disease from the hamster pee but u can get a disease from them so make sure u wash your hands before handling them so thy don't get a disease from you and after handling them so u don't get a disease from them. As far as I know it is not dangerous.the pee is gonna look odd, I learned that they have different types of pee like territorial, scared and exedra. Your hamster probably was scared so your hamster peed. I hope that helped
