So I've recently put a small tub with some sand as a litter tray in Hamtaro's cage in the courner where he would normally go, he hasn't had good experiances with sand in the past and i honestly didn't think he take to it, but straight away he got the idea and now does his "business" in it which i am glad, but i found he also liked to dig in the sand which i didn't think would be a good idea cause thats his toilet lol, so i filled another tub with sand (they were came as a pair) and put it in a different corner, and tipped the sand out of the toilet pot the next morning and only put a little bit of old substrate in it, he took to the new tub with more sand almost right away and though it is not big enough for him to roll in (i plan to get a bigger one at some point) i've noticed he likes to just sit infront of it with his head in it liturally like an ostridge O.o i can see into the tub and he's not moving or rubbing his face he just sits. today he did it for a long time and when i realised he was still sitting in it after a while i called him and he didn't respond. I was a little worried but assumed he'd fallen asleep even though it was the evening so i called him a couple more times and he looked up at me dazed and confused
and after a few moments he put his head back in the box O.O. i looked inside it and realised his eyes were open so if he didn't pass out why is he sitting with his head in the box doing nothing? also fyi he had dug almost all the sand out of the box with his front paws earlier that day so there was hardly any left in there, so it seems really strange and i have no clue why he's doing it >.< any suggestions?
