Default Had to separate - have i done the right thing?

After a few squabbles Puddle and Raindrop seemed to be at war!
When Raindrop the tinier Robo, began to limp i investigated and found his back rear leg to be very swollen and red.

So I bought him a Rody and moved him in, along with his favourite things.

Since doing this a week ago I rarely see either of them!

Puddle has an enormous space all to himself now and apart from an occasional reccie for food and quick whizz on the wheel and drink he spends the rest of his time under a heap of bedding in the farthest corner.

As for Raindrop he ventures out for food and water but scuttles back into the plastic bit that runs along one side of the rody. I should add that his leg is back to normal and he is using it quite freely now

I feel that I have failed them and that now they are unhappy. They used to play a lot and whizz around for hours even in daylight. Now i rarely see them.

What can i do to encourage them out more?
Any ideas would be gratefully received

it will probably take them a while to get used to be on their own. When i first separated a pair of robos, i felt so sorry for one of them who looked so depressed and never came out. I bought him a friend and that didn't work out, but i now know i should've just left him be, because in a while they are fine. It's just a little shock at first.

I'm not sure i would have separated because of the leg thing. They don't tend to go for the leg in fighting, more the rump, and the leg could've been from something else, but now you've made the decision to separate, you'll have to leave them separated. Don't worry too much about them. As long as they have plenty of toys and attention, they'll be fine.

I should have also added that there had been rump biting and I had seen some blood. He has recovered from this too, (I kept it clean ) and the only tell tale mark is the short fur on his rump

This coupled with the limping was why i felt that separating them was the only option

in that case then i'd say you did the right thing. Once a scab has formed, i tend to just leave it alone and it's always healed fine in my experience
