Default Living in Tubes

I've just moved my syrian hamster Hammy into a Savic Hamster Heaven Cage (see Cage Review Section). It took him a while to discover the connecting tubes, but now that he has he seems to want to set up home in there!! He spends long periods of time sitting in them, and has taken to storing some of his food there. At first I took him out, but he went back in soon afterwards. He seems happy enough in there, and it doesn't seem to be doing him any harm. Should I leave him to it, or was I right to try and discourage it? Advice and opinions would be appreciated!

Personally I would take the tubes off until he sets ap a proper nest and store in an appropriate airy place.
Unfortunatly they do like to sleep in the tubes but they lack ventilation and soon get bunged up with bedding and food. The condensation from their breath tends to make them damp and this can cause mould to grow and give them chest infections. The food gets damp and mouldy and can go bad upsetting the tummy and if their fur is damp they can chill easily.
Once they have a settled bed area they normally stay there and don't go back in the tubes.

Hi, thanks for that. He spends his days sleeping in the igloo that came with the cage, and only goes in the tubes at night. Re. the ventilation issue, the tubes have air holes all over them, so hopefully that won't cause a problem.
