Default Hamster sleep pattern

My(very first ever) hamster wakes between 12am and 2am, and goes to sleep by 6am. He does not wake up during the day.
I know hamsters are usually nocturnal to some degree, but my friends hamsters would wake up either multiple times throughout the day, or would start waking up in the evening(around 8 or 9pm) and be up until early morning.

He's just a baby, I got him April 11th and he was 5 weeks old, could that be why he sleeps so much? Is there any way to change his schedule so I can see him more than two or three times a week(the only times I can stay up late enough to hang out with him)? He doesn't seem scared, lets me handle and pat him when I do stay up late, but he's just never awake during normal hours at all. In the time I've had him I've only been able to have him out of his cage 4 times because of his bad schedule.

I can't really wake him up myself because he digs deep tunnels in his dig box and sleeps in them, to get him out I'd have to carefully dig him up and the one time I did that he screeched at me. So what can I do?
So far I have tried digging him up the one time which he hated, and keeping the room dark all day, but that didn't bring him out earlier either.

Hamsters vary a lot in their routines, the times they wake & how lazy they can be!
They generally hate to be woken up so unless you really need to get him out I wouldn't go digging him out. You can try to get them to wake earlier if you do it gradually, just start a bit earlier than they normally wake at first & make some noise with the food bag as you feed him, you could try very gently tapping on the cage too but only a gentle tap!
If he does wake & come out reward him with his food & a nice treat.
No guarantees but it might work!

You may well find that he is awake at various times during the day and early evening anyway but just not coming out of his nest. Mine does this - he wakes up and has a little snack or maybe does some grooming or whatever for a while then goes back to sleep for another snooze without leaving his bed. If he's doing this it's likely he'll also sometimes leave the nest briefly to have a drink of water or to wee then go straight back. If he's doing this then you're half way there because as he bonds with you he will be more likely to come out earlier, especially if he hears or smells you, as he will want to come out of his cage to
play. For now I would watch closely in the evening for him getting up briefly for a drink and then use the opportunity to handle him and also try the making gentle noises idea to wake him and see if he comes out.
