Re: What is it like having a hamster cage(s) in your room?
If I did move Tinkerbell into my room, I would probably invest in a detolf since there are no bars
She does have a silent spinner but she is unable to turn it at he moment since she is still a baby, she has a noisy wheel at the moment
XD

Re: What is it like having a hamster cage(s) in your room?
I have my two hammies in my bedroom and both me and my OH love it. They have silent wheels ( Karlie Wonderland) and before I took one out due to injury (Silent Spinner). We love the pitter patter of their tiny little feet and shuffling noises etc...I feel safe knowing they are there. We call them guardians of our sleep...We actually can't sleep well without them. When my first hammie passed away, the room was silent and we found it so eerie and quiet.
We actually sleep better with hammies around.
I can't wait to move out into our own house (hopefully soon) and I have already plans to bring in my other two hams from room next door. I can't wait to have them all in our bedroom to enjoy they nighttime antics! x

Re: What is it like having a hamster cage(s) in your room?
It depends on the hamster. Wolverine was pretty quiet, Cruella was a nightmare. I had to block anything chewable off as I couldn't sleep a wink when she was chewing incase she got out! I had to move her to a non chewable big tank to get any sleep. Fingers crossed Sherlocks been quiet & his wheel only makes a tiny whirly noise which is theraputic hearing him having the time of his life!

Re: What is it like having a hamster cage(s) in your room?
Definitely depends on your hamsters and how you cope with noises while your asleep.
It doesn't bother me too much, grew up sharing a bedroom and I sleep better with noises around me. My OH and other other hand HATES it. He can't sleep and gets woken by any noise, so much so we had to move them hamsters from the spare room (next room) to the kitchen/dining room downstairs. They can be noisy, and I've found gerbils and syrians are louder and more destructive than dwarf hamsters (although might not be true for everyone).

My hamster spent the first night I had him in my room and I couldn't take the noise so put him in another room.
My friend kept her hamster in her room the whole time she had him though so really its personal preference.

I'd agree it depends on you. I like having my pets around at night it helps me know they are safe. But I'd sleep through a lot of the noise as it is comfort noise to me. And I don't mind being woken up now and then. If it's going to bug you that's different.

Re: What is it like having a hamster cage(s) in your room?
I was considering it but I am not sure, I used to be a very light sleeper but now I am not too bad. I guess if I wanted to have her in my room I could try her in there for a night and see how it is

I'm fine with Loaf in my room. His wheel is loud and he chews the bars sometimes, but it acts as "white noise" for me rather than keeping me from getting to sleep. My mind is very active and focusing on the noise helps with getting sleep.

I have 15 in my room and they do make a lot of noise but honestly I am so used to it now, if I stay somewhere else I can't sleep if there's no noise
