Question Obsessive wheel peeing!

Does anyone have any tricks to stop my hamster peeing in his wheel? He poops and pees in there, I don't mind the pooing as much it's just when he runs on it the pee gets stuck to his fur making him smell and the poo that's flying around get stuck too! Ive cleaned his wheel twice in the past two days, I even tried wiping down the pee with toilet paper and putting it in a pile with his poo and other wee'd on bedding but he still insists on using his wheel?

This is a common problem and some members have experienced it with their hammies, I've been lucky!
It's important not too clean his wheel too often as this will get rid of his scent and he'll end up peeing more
to mark his territory.
I would dip the substrate in his pee and place it in a corner of his cage and see if he takes to that.

If it's a young one he might grow out of it (if you're lucky!) sometimes they just don't want to stop running so they keep going & do what they need to do while they're at it!
You're doing the right thing with the toilet paper but as Lizzy says don't clean the wheel too often & don't use any strong smelling cleaning stuff on it as that will just make the problem worse. Give it a wipe down with a damp paper towel if necessary but don't give it a full clean more than about once a week at most.

It's pretty normal for them to do that... Toby just doesn't want to stop running sometimes so he pees and poos... the poo flies out and lands nearby the wheel though because he's got a silent spinner and they spin really fast. I would definitely just keep attempting to put substrate with his urine and poo on it in a corner, eventually he may take to going in that corner. Make the substrate nice and deep there so your hamster can dig. Toby pees in the corner behind his wheel and likes to dig down to the bottom, flip himself upright, pee, and crawl out of the hole, ha ha, and poos in his nest mostly.
