Default Cinders

Hello all, it has been a while since I last posted on here- been busy with work and college- but I thought I would just give an update on Cinders. I adopted her from P@H around 5 to 6 weeks ago. In the first week she hissed and went mad, I couldn't even get her food bowl out until she was in bed or I risked getting bitten. She had already had 3 different homes and there was no way I was taking her back.
However yesterday, for the first time, I managed to pick her up. It was a very brief 'cuddle' but compared to what she was like a few weeks back its amazing. She absolutely hated every second of it but she didn't bite. It looks like the nickname Cinderhella is no longer necessary, alothough I will never ever trust her!

Good stuff! I've found the key is bit to compare your progress to others as that way can get disheartening. Especially if people have hamsters tame & sitting on their shoulders in a week I just think it's so lovely when you get any kind of step forward. And not biting is a biggie pleased you are going in the right direction.

That's good to hear, well done!
Some hams can be a lot harder to tame than others but it's so rewarding when you do make progress, take your time with her & I'm sure she'll continue to trust you more & more.

She has such a lovely character, can't believe no one wanted her. I just don't dare mess with her when she is in heat, she really is Cinderhella then; she chews through about 2 toilet roll tubes a night when she is in heat!

Well done on your progress and let it continue!
You mentioned in your post that you'll never ever trust her. Remember she's had 3 different homes she's now in her 4th home, she's had a lot of upheaval. For her to let you pick her up is a positive sign that she's starting to trust you and you need to learn to trust her.
This is a big progress from Cinders.
Make sure you talk to her and praise her all the time, this will give heart more confidence.
