Sand baths
I know there have been lots of debate in the past about whether to give the fuzzbombs sand baths. I placed one in Dali's cage the other day and today is the first time I have seen her use it, just not in the way I expected. I expected the quick rolling onto the back that I have seen from chins and other rodents... or for her just to pee in it.
Dali, being a little 'special' and liking to do things her own way sticks her back legs out behind her and pulls herself along on her belly through the sand. This gathers up the sand underneath her then she stands on her hind legs next to the mound and seemingly uses her front paws to 'rub in' the sand on her belly...
I think my hamster has lost her marbles!

Re: Sand baths
Yep, you must film this if possible! Madison has a quick roll in hers once a week but isn't overly fussed by it.

Re: Sand baths
I will try. She seems to sense when the camera is trained on her and gives me evils until I put it away. I have never had such a strange hamster. Sometimes she does things that seem really intelligent (she will come and sit in front of me when I call her name, like a dog) then the next minute she has done something stupid (like trying to put my pinky toe in her pouch)...
I will try and catch her next time she is in her sand bath... she has me utterly perplexed!

Re: Sand baths
Seventh! She clearly likes the sand bath anyway lol! They do say pets mimic their owners (or is it the other way round) - have you been rubbing something into your tummy recently lol?!
