Re: Psycho behaviour
I've always stuck to the plastic bottle. My youngest was attacking her bottle and I put in cardboard at either side of the bottle so the spout couldn't be moved in the bars and she's not done it since,

Re: Psycho behaviour
That is a good idea! I'll try something like that and see if that works.

Re: Psycho behaviour
maybe she likes the noise, that could be it.
if you got a ceramic stand, i suppose you could secure it to the bottom of the cage / bin in such a way she couldn't get to what is used to secure it...

Re: Psycho behaviour
So I've discovered that Aria is a bottle chewer. It's difficult to grasp the thought that she is because she just randomly started doing it. She got tons of stuff to keep occupied but I guess she just randomly gets in the mood to chew her bottle.
I bought her another bottle yesterday and this morning I woke up to a hole in the bottle. I've got some ideas like placing cardboard around the bottle or hanging the bottle. But I'm still brainstorming on some more ideas.
I don't mind the noise, I just got worry about her teeth. She doesn't ingest to water so no danger there. She always chews where the bottle and spout meet.

Re: Psycho behaviour
Is the bottle on the inside or outside of the cage?

Re: Psycho behaviour
Inside the cage. It's a bin cage with mesh.

Re: Psycho behaviour
Hi I am newbie but have been reading alot here -- I saw one of the bin cages here had a mesh window on the side and the water bottle was clipped outside. Maybe you could try that? The mesh was very secure with screws, bolts and nuts. If I can find the pic again I'll post the link here if it will let me! (I don't have enough credit for url's it seems!).
I wonder what it is about the bottle she is after? Do you think she is attacking it aggressively or just really enjoying gnawing on it?

I'm pretty sure I know what you mean. My mesh is bolted down so Iam able to attach it like that on the outside. She just seems like she wants to move it from where it's at. I've thought about moving it over to the other side of the bin to see if that helps.
