Default Syrian squeaks?

I've been curious about this for quite some time, Mellorine my female syrian is a vocal ham. She makes some interesting sounds while walking or playing like murmuring to herself. I've experienced her annoyed sound when I woke her up to give her treats. But I noticed she's only vocal when she's in heat.

Recently, she's been making sounds while eating. When she goes to get some food from her bowl or when she's eating in her nest. It seems to me like she got hiccups while she's eating. Should I be worried or does this mean something? I've been observing her and she only does it while munching on something.

Sometimes, when a hamster makes hiccup sounds, that means that it has a respiratory problem. Maybe because of the bedding?

However, in your case, it could just be that your hamster was, well, hiccuping, or making munching noises, or something similar to that. I have seen another hamster hiccup while eating, and, while no one really knew what was wrong, the hamster seemed quite fine, and the "hiccups" didn't affect him.

But if your hamsters does seem affected by it, and stops eating or something like that, you definitely should take her to the vet.

My 2 make a "mmm" noise when they're getting food from their bowls. Especially so when it's fresh chicken, veggies and fruit.

I kinda thought it was some allergy at first so I put her in another cage without the bedding, just toilet paper and stopped giving her treats but she still does it. She acts normal but when she goes to the food bowl to get her food she does it again. It's quite loud compared to the murmurs she does.

I guess I'll consider it as one of the noises she makes as polar whites and thin lizzy said.
