Re: hamsters don't like him?
C'mon guys!!! You can't let Skeever handle this alone! Speak up...shout out! Stand up for your hamminess! I just know you aren't alone in talking to your hams with confidence Skeever!
I think that having your OH do all the feeding for a while might help your hammy be more comfortable with him hyunkyong.

Women tend to have a more softer voice than men.
Guys don't be offended!

Re: hamsters don't like him?
Hey us women are socialised from infancy to baby talk... to BABIES! Baby dolls, prominent present for young girls, yes? Anyone else get Baby All-Gone for Christmas once upon a time or am I just really old? It's not surprising at all that we're better at it, you don't baby talk to Action Man or G.I Joe!
Luckily it just takes practise for the guys to catch up, well done Skeever for overcoming your male disadvantage! my bf worked in a childcare centre for years so he is well up to date on his baby talk and I've caught him chatting away to Butts and Ceecee (it's so adorable I can't even put it into words!)

Re: hamsters don't like him?
I'm just thinking of guys doing baby talk to Action Man or G.I. Joe lol!
I'd love to be a fly on the wall if that ever happened!
Men should show their feminine side more!

Re: hamsters don't like him?
Ok - I agree with Skeever - men are just as capable as talking to hammies in a great way, just as women are capable of wielding a screwdriver (which I do frequently). And if I wasn't here, my other half would do it - he just lets me do it because I do it, so there's no need for him to. That's about the size of it.

Re: hamsters don't like him?
Happy Christmas by the way! And actually sometimes men are better with animals and children when there is no woman around to take over ha ha! We all take a back seat on some things when there is the other half to do it. When I was single for some years I had to be my own husband, wife, parent and child - we're all capable of turning our hands to anything. Personally I'd rather not do housework and write a book, but I have people to look after so I'm doing it because they need me to and I love them. Anyone who has a hammy, has a hammy to look after and talk to and because they need it and they love their Hammy.
Ooh I am filled with Christmas spirit - just watched a children's film where a run down school puts on a musical nativity and they think Hollywood are coming to see them so they do an amazing job and then find out it was all a lie and Hollywood aren't coming, so the nativity is off, then they just do it anyway and then Hollywood actually comes!
And no I haven't been at the brandy, but I did get a bit of a whiff from the Christmas cake. Our Christmas this year isn't that happy, for various family reasons, so we are just enjoying happy moments here and there. Lots of love from us all people.

Re: hamsters don't like him?
Just read through this thread
Sometimes Sora bites my boyfriend if she's out with me and he puts his hands out, however I've told him it's because I spend more time with them than he does, Sora does let him play with her and take her out though, actually if I have her out and put her back she'll want to be out again but will turn her nose up at me, as if to say she wants my boyfriends attention now and not mine. I think letting him be the one to feed them and give them treats would certainly help

Re: hamsters don't like him?
How do you talk anything but baby talk to a furry critter named Pooky or Ziggy? Ted E. Bear was just made for baby talk. Nutmeggie is soft and squishy, with bright button eyes, an automatic stimulus for me to babble. And Almond's adorable fluffiness trundling away from me with his little bowlegs puts me on instant happy chatter, telling him how smooshable and lovely his little self is.
