Re: Squeaky hamster?
Both of my hams, will make sounds. Teddie makes a clicking sound, when I think she's stressed, or anxious. I've heard the click sounds, when I've spot cleaned her nest, while she was on the other end of her cage, and if I move or add things to her cage, she runs around like she's nervous and clicks..
My dwarf, is vocal if she's startled or annoyed. I've heard her the
squeal when she's sleeping, and hears me rusting things in her cage. Lol. I've heard her squeak when I started her. Those are the only times I've heard my hams vocal.

Re: Squeaky hamster?
My dwarf squeaked, huffed, clicked, and every other sound you can think of the first week I got her! It was the cutest thing, that was when she wasn't vicious. I don't know what happened haha! I still love her to pieces though

When she does it, is it when she's happy? Sleeping? Annoyed?

It's hard to say what her mood is when she does it. She'll do it as soon as she wakes up, but she'll also do it when she's just running around on my bed. She's super nice I've never seen her even remotely annoyed or mad.

Re: Squeaky hamster?
Then she really is like Pebbles, just chattering away. She has a lot to say and she means you to hear her! I do hope you get the chance to catch her doing it on video one day. I always find it a treat to hear them.

Re: Squeaky hamster?
I'm brand new here, and I joined yesterday. I came to this thread for the same reason. I was bonding with what I think is my new djungarian (I got her Saturday morning, it's now Monday evening). She decided to start climbing all over me, exploring, and she doesn't seem afraid anymore. She always does the little clicking noise with her teeth (sounds like rubbing) but then it turned into a little bit of eep eep eep along with it. So I guess just a bit louder. I wouldn't say it's squeaking, per se. I put her back in her cage and she still did it for a while, running around a bit. I would assume this was a happy sound, that she was having fun? I put my hand in again about 10 minutes later and she climbed into it. This time, very slow, her cheeks were full of veggies.
She also bit my LIP while we were bonding, she came out of the top of my shirt and just bit and tried to yank it off! She's a little nippy but she's still a baby, so I think she's just exploring.
