Fighting hamsters
Im wondering is anyone can help me!
I have 2 robo hamsters, which are brothers and have been living together fine. I have recently noticed one of them has wounds and is bleeding, so have seperated them following advice I have seen on here. They have only be in seperate cages for 2 nights, but I have noticed neither of them seem as active and not eating as much as they did.
I wondered if this could be because they miss each other? and whether I should try to put them back together yet?
thank you in advance!

Re: Fighting hamsters
I don't keep robos myself but from everything I've read on here the advice is do not put them back together. The risks of fighting and death is higher now that they've been separated. They'll adjust to single life and be fine and you won't have to worry about any fratricide!

Re: Fighting hamsters
Do not put them back together! Once a pair has fallen out, it's too dangerous to try to put them back together.
Let them live separately from now on. They will adjust to being on their own, and will be much happier for it

Re: Fighting hamsters
I agree with the others, the sudden change will unsettle them for a while but give them some time & I'm sure they'll be fine, probably happier eventually!

Re: Fighting hamsters
After two nights they'll have probably forgotten each other already tbh... re-introducing properly/safely is time consuming and has no guarantees of working. Even if it did work, there's every chance they'd fall out and fight again.
They'll be happy on their own, don't worry.

Re: Fighting hamsters
Unlike humans, hamsters don't seek company, especially if one has been injured, it's likely he'd be scared and fights will happen again as his brother may see him as weak.
It's best to keep them separate, they will be better off now
