Question Hamster Chewing Cage

Lately my hamster Star has taken a habit of chewing on one of the corners in her cage. It is a DIY cage, and made of wood, hence the chewing. Can you hamster experts out there tell me a hammy-safe home remedy that will discourage her chewing?

Can you put something in the way to stop her chewing?

Only yesterday hubby and I made a sort of wooden liner to put inside the the plastic base of one of our cages because Ebony was eating her way out, as you have made your own cage your obviously a DIY sort of person, is it possible to put a second wooden skin in it? Ok she would still maybe chew it but she wouldn't be damaging the actual cage and you could just replace that part when chewed?

Thats what I've been trying to do currently. She just manages to push it out of the way, the little stinker

(Insert Willows comment here, lol, I don't know how to quote two comments)

I actually didn't make it, my dad did. And yes, that's what we would have to do if she manages to get through.

Does anyone know if lemon would work? I saw that posted somewhere on here, I believe.

Lemon might work but a lot of hams decide its worth chewing despite the horrible taste I'm afraid
