Default Hamster sitting

im going on holiday and I've found somone who is going to take care of Humphrey for me. I want to leave some instruction like how much to feed him and when to refresh his water bottle. What other instructions should I give? Also what would I need to bring? Like his bedding his sand his food and the stuff already in his cage... Hope someone can help!

How much does this person know about keeping hams & how long will you be gone? That will determine just how detailed your instructions need to be to some extent.
If they'll be getting him out of the cage they'll need to know how to do that using a cup or ball if he won't go to their hands.
They'll need to know how to clean, spot clean, cleaning litter trays, things like that.
How much food & treat to give & how to clean water bottles properly.
He'll need to have everything you regularly use for him.
Why not just note down your daily, weekly routine that you have with him & then take from that whatever you think will be necessary for them to do.
Can't think of anything else right now but I hope that helps a bit.

How often do you clean him out. If it is every week or every two weeks, then if you are going away for a week, you wont need to take bedding, as the minder will not need to clean him out if you do it before hand. You will only need to supply the food and treats.
Instructions on what time he usually out or if he can be handled by a stranger. Tell them if there are any problems like a possibility of him escaping. Some people have to put something on the doors like a heavy book to stop the ham opening the door, but you wouldnt want to carry a heavy book with the tank. Tell them if he is diabetic so they know he cant have sweet stuff. They will supply the water.

If they have hams, they should already know how to feed and everything about them. I would just put what he can and cant have. What his hates are and what treats he loves more of so they dont give him too much. My Screech loves mealworms and would eat them until they come out of her ears, so if I was to leave her with someone, I would say only give her two a day so she is not over fed on them.
If you give the cage a full clean before you go away, it should not need a deep clean again, they should just spot clean. You could ask them if they will need any substrate and / or bedding incase they want to clean the cage for any reason.
So the note / instructions can be made to look like a shopping list or a little story or poem.
Humphrey loves mealworms,
especially as a treat,
but I do not overfeed him,
each day he has two to eat.
At night about half past eight,
He goes in his ball,
He thinks its great.
He loves a cuddle,
after hes had a meal,
This gives him joy
and the care he likes to feel.

Or
8pm I usually put him in his ball.
He comes out of his age
Only feed two mealworms as he loves them but cant eat too much.
A supply of food, enough til I come home
etc. etc.

I know which I would sooner read. lol
Or just tell them verbally. They should remember.

lol. Thanks.

My mind is like the Universe. Large, filled with voids and lots of holes . Some stuff just floats about until I need it and some go missing. I come up with some things now and again. lol.
