Ok so todays little update. The cage we have nibbles in has pipes attached but my fiance made up some pieces at work so that we could block them of so that was the first thing, she isnt very impressed by this. She keeps climbing the cage to see if they're back yet.

Anyway nibbles was a wake and sat in her bed so we sat face to face on the floor lifted nibbles and her bed from the cage and placed her on the fllor between our legs. At first she was very nervous but after she'd walked around for a while and had a good sniff at everything she seemed to relax. I have noticied she seems to prefer sunflower seeds out of all her food so I have been using them as treats to show her I'm not to be scared off which seems to be working slowly but surely. She isnt afraid to let me stroke her back gently, she also sat right up close to me and started to bathe herself which I'm led to believe is a sign of her feeling safe. we made some attempts to pick her up buts she just runs our jumps before you can lift her, we will keep working on this though. But I think we have made some progress tonite.

Also thanks for all the advice.

I have some pictures from tonite on my phone which I will sort out at some point it may be tomorrow night though.

Im soo happy to hear that she's slowly starting to have trust in you! and yes, a hamster would only bathe if its content and secure. And giving her treats would be like praising a child, well done! but if she sniffs your fingers once you've handled food and gives you a little nip that you cant feel, its because she's testing whether what she smelt was real food, which your hand obviously isnt She would be a bit jumpy for a while, and just be out of your grasp, but if you do this every night, she will be more used to it and know that nothing bad has happened every time you get her out, and you might have your first chance at holding her

Keep up with the good progress!Getting her out every night would speed up taming progress!! :P

Yeah, respect her personal space. You will soon know when she's had enough handling for one night as she starts becoming hyper, and harder to get hold of

Your doing great

Hopefully this is what would be classed as good progress,

Thought i'd kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak and intoduce nibbles to you all as well as showing how we are getting on with her.

She explored my fiance for a bit today very comfortably (she was also on us both last nite) she followed teh explore with a wee on his top and then bathed her self for a bit on his hand. So things are really going well I would say. I'm over the moon thats she has become this friendly towards us.

Also on a side note went to get her a few bits this morning and after noticing Harry Hamster food mentioned a lot on here we got her some and the quality of it looks loads better than the pets at home stuff also nibbles seems to appriciate it more

My gosh! only about a few weeks ago, it was impossible to handle her, now, she's exploring all over you and your fiancé

She's very small, it's been ages since I've seen a young syrian hamster. They are so tricky to handle when they're young because they can run at an incredible speed

You've managed to control her behavior gracefully (doesn't sound like she had bitten you today!) I've seen all too well hamster's becoming increasingly aggressive and stubborn to tame. Handling them would be out of the question! If your hamster is untamed, it doesn't mean that they aren't happy, and enjoying life, it just means you cant have any physical contact without a bloody finger :P

As far as you and I can see, Nibbles definitely wont be going down that road

I bet in another few days or a week, Nibbles would have passed her 'Taming course ' and will be friendly for life!

Well I havent posted on here for a little bit but progress with nibbles is going steady she loves playing out of her cage climbing all over us. When you put her back she climbs up the bars and stares at you as if she wants to be back out. Her character and general behaviour has changed massively since we tamed her.

Anyway thank you to those that offered help and advice.

I'm not an expert on this stuff but I'm sure I'm future your little ham will love you and want to play all the time. I also was worried about my Syrian having wet tail because he was nervous around me and when I picked him up, his hind was wet but I later realised he had weed on himself haha. Anyways sorry this isn't really helping but I wish you the best of luck!
