Default Snowy doesn't understand her wheel?

Hey everyone (:

Snowy is our adopted Robo hammy that we got a week ago, she is roughly 14 weeks old and has been in adoption since late February. Her cage in the adoption centre was very small, all it had was a food bowl, water bottle and tunnel. No wheel, no nest and no toys.

In her new cage she has a nest, two tunnels, wheel, stairs, platform and a hanging fruit stick as well as various chews. I saw her climbing the fruit stick afew times and yesterday saw her climbing the bars on top of the cage but I haven't once seen her or heard her on the wheel.

Is this normal? Does she maybe not understand it due to going this long without one? I want her to have regular excersize and have fun and I'm worried she won't.

I'm always worrying about various things when it comes to my hammys that most of the time doesn't bare worrying about, but I just need my reassurance as I'd rather be safe than sorry!

Thanks a lot in advance (:

If you've only had her a week I wouldn't be worried. She's likely to still be having plenty of enrichment just exploring her new surroundings. I'm sure she'll figure it out when she's completely comfy. You'll probably find she just jumps on and off it and maybe walks slowly on it at first while she gets used to the motion.

I recently got a flying saucer for Nibbler (my Syrian who's been with us 8 weeks and had a smaller flying saucer at the pet shop) and it took him over a week to figure out how to sprint on it again.

Yeah I'd just give her lots of time to get used to it Does the wheel turn freely? If so then sooner or later she'll realise it turns and will wind up running on it quite happily in time
