Default My hamster is biting the cage bars?

Is there any way that I can stop this? She chooses hours that I'm asleep to do it and It's constantly waking me up. I can deal with it no problem just a bit frustrating.. I have plenty of wood chews in her cage shes about 9 weeks old and a campbell dwarf. I take her out daily and I'm not sure why she does this. Any advise would be greatly appreciated

I've got two that I've had her un currently she is in the yellow (as you can see lol) one but she did the same things in the white one :/ I thought maybe it was because the bars were horizontal but no dice she's still munching away..

^^; I'll chime in first. The cages for you lovely ladies is too small. Each hamster needs about 360sq in of floor space (you can go for less, but more is better) especially with a pair. I have two paired dwarf boys and they live in a 40gal breeder tank. I firmly believe bin cages and tank style cages are wonderful for hamsters (though I imagine I'd like some of the cages in the UK, I just can't get them here!).

I would recommend moving them to a bigger cage. If it's within your means, you could go for a tank/aquarium style. The lowest I would go is 20gal long for them. Bigger is better. I love my boys in the 40gal breeder.

It allows there to be two of everything, which a pair needs, or else they could begin fighting, which can lead to injury or even death.

I am sorry to say but the reason she is bar chewing is down to the fact that she is bored and wants to get out as the cages are too small and do not offer enough enrichment. However, I doubt you intentionally bought a small cage as some people say these cages are adequate for a hamster.

no the brown thing is just a toy lol some wood for her to chew on. I take her out until she falls asleep but she's just up and about while I'm sleeping.. I make sure she get exercise and although the cage does seem too small she sleeps most of the day away if she's not eating lol I'll look into a bigger cage for her though
