This thread is hilarious.

Like Hekomi, if not all, some of Shade's poo is in his hut, and he doesn't seem to mind very much. I see poop all over, I don't think Shade has much of a "poo spot" as much as he does a "pee spot".

I've yet to see Shade throw poop around, and as disgusting as it might sound or be, I'd laugh seeing it. He is so cute as it is, then he is throwing poop?

Are we sure hamsters aren't somewhat related to monkeys?

This so funny! I really though my little lad Basil was getting me back for something he though I did to him...when he's in my lap, he bends over and plucks a poo out of his bum, then flicks it at me.
He definitely has his pee spots (two) and a poop spot. I have watched him pluck out a fine load and then artfully arranges said poos about the entrance to his nest and around his favourite tunnels. There is also a pile on the carpet too every evening....
Are Syrian hamsters like rabbits then? Rabbits are cacophages (I spelt it wrong : (), the first poop they pass is soft and only half digested. They eat this directly from their bum. The second round is the round, hard pellet we all think of as rabbit droppings: this is whats left after the rabbit has re-digested the first poo. Its an evolutionary adaptation for the rabbit to get the most nutrients and water content out a rough diet....

Hetty- I know how you feel.. Hee hee-
One night, I took Teddy out to show my hubby, how sweet and how much she's grown- as soon as I said, " look at how sweet she is" Teddy reached down picked out a poo, and threw it at me!! Hah!! Well- I was stunned, and my hubby, had a good laugh!

Oh my!! Hahah that's so funny cause Basil did something similar!
I was praising the virtues of having a hammy, how sweet and wonderful the were to my sister as we were peering in at Basil.
Every one for attention, the little guy came over, up on to his ledge and prairie-dogged ( utterly adorable, especially he being so fluffy). My sister squealed with delight and.....then ever the gentleman, Basil bent over and whipped a poo out of his bum and threw it at her through the bars......
Strangely she's not getting a hamster...I wonder why?
