Default Hamster sleeping in tube

Hi all,

I recently got my little hamster 2 days ago and it has made it home inside one of the tubes and I heard this isn't good as it can get burnt from its wee and it looks squished! Should I remove the tube for a few days so she can make a home somewhere else or just leave it. At the mo I can't go anywhere near her without her running inside the tube so she is still very scared

Thanks

Hi Nero,
I would remove the tube. Because she's new, she's not comfortable nesting anywhere too open yet. But the tube doesn't provide enough aeration and can have condensation which is not good for her.

I'd remove the tube and put a pile of shredded tissues under a sheltered place, like a platform and let her nest there. If there are no platforms in her cage you can make a cardboard house from a tea box and cut out an entrance.

Yeah I would agree with Nush and remove the tube, at least until she is settled with you. x
