Default Quick question about potty habits...

First, forgive me, I have been busy with work and I just settled into a volunteer position at a hospital. However, Othello has been progressing socially so well lately; I will probably showcase him here in the next few days down on the hybrid forum.

So, to the details: In the first two weeks that I had him, he had absolutely no inclination to potty in a particular region. *shrug* That's fine, I clean up the messiest of his litter, swap some of his nest bedding ('cause he likes to poo there too) and remove his stash of food so it doesn't spoil ('cause he stashes his food under the water bottle...)

This past cage clean, however, his nest was SOAKED in one corner with potty. He seems to go in one corner of the little space/shelf on the top of his cage where he nests, so I cleared it as best as I could, but ended up removing most of that bedding. He wasn't pleased, but I think he enjoys re-making his home. He does it daily anyway.

Is this...a thing? Should I try to get him some sand maybe? Or do I let him go at it and just try to spot clean it? I was just so surprised it was so damp! O_O

You could try putting some sand in the area with a bit of the wet bedding in it so it smells right to him. I use a jam jar for one of my syrians, he likes to wee near his bed sometimes rather than going up the ladder to his sandbath. I just stick some dirty substrate in it as well as some dry substrate to absorb new messes
