Acting different?
I adopted Nala my Syrian just over a month ago, however the past week or so she has been acting differently.
I've found out she likes running around free from the massive ball she has, so the safest place for her to do that is in the hall as there is nowhere for her to escape and no hidyholes that she can get trapped/lost in.
However I have noticed that she has started trailing her bum across the floor and rubbing herself on corners, I am interpreting this as her scent marking? She also has started doing this quite fiercely if I pet her and return her to her cage, again its the bum trailing and making sure she rubs herself on all the bars of her cage occasionally stopping and scratching at her sides. Is it that she doesn't like my smell or is she being territorial of her own cage?
She has also in the past fortnight taking to chewing on the bars of her cage, she is losing fur around her nose and no matter what toys, tubes, tissue I put in her cage she seems to only want to do this. I am in the process of making her a bigger cage as to stop her being bored but is this normal? Will it harm her in any way?
I had hamsters a lot while growing up but they were all male and never really had this sort of behaviour.
