Hi JessyWolf. Hamsters sleep quite a lot. Although people think they sleep all day and are up all night, this is not necessarily true. Hamsters tend to be up and about around early evening and on and off throughout the night. Some (Like my Ted E. Bear) are day hammies and are up in the early morning from 4-5 a.m. until about 11 a.m., then again in the early evening. There are no hard and fast rules for hammies . But I have noticed that they seem to sleep a bit more in the colder weather. Give it a bit more time and you'll figure out his schedule. By the way, if you want to wake him to play, that's fine. What I do with Patches is (accidently, of course) bump around by her cage until she comes out to see what's going on. She comes out of her cage for a visit and will go right back to sleep when I put her back. They're pretty adaptable little furries.

Aha I see good to know :P and aw that's cute I just hope he does not go into hibernation or so, that's why I force him to wake up at times and always check on him

What I tend to do is put a little pen mark by the water level on the water bottle so then I can see if he is drinking and see how much he is drinking by how much the water has gone down in comparison to were the marker is. I change the pen mark and refill the water every 24hours. Sometimes Smarties drinks a lot during the 24hours and sometimes its not so much.
