Soooo.... After a couple of days of just feeding and watering, another couple of days of me chatting to him and hand feeding and armed with mealworms Dexter no longer runs away and has even climbed out of his cage onto my hand and had a quick 5 min in his ball (I'll build it up slowly.) what a palarva! I'm so chuffed. I was really worried he'd be a cage hamster for life. Just goes to show how complex these little guys can be and how rewarding they are when you put the effort in photos to follow. I was too excited to reach for my phone.

LOL. I am glad he's doing so nicely. Hamsters can get over frights as long as their owners are willing to be patient and take the time to start over. Good for you!
