Default Food in toilet

Hi,

I did a search but I can't find anything about this in other threads...

Harry has the bottom half of a Ferplast house (little grey one) that he uses as a toilet. I put a bit of sawdust in the bottom to make it easier to clean every day or so. He seems to only wee in the house (he doesn't wee anywhere else, poops everywhere though)
Suddenly he has started to put food in there. Not his muesli, but if I give him a banana chip or something he puts it straight in there.

Is this going to hurt him? And is there anyway I can stop him doing it?
My boyf says to take the treat off him as soon as he puts it in there and eventually he'll learn that if he puts them in there they go away.

I'm not sure. Any help is welcomed!

Bella is terrible for storing her food in her sand dish (which she also uses as a potty). She has never come to any harm from doing it though. You can try and teach him to stop doing it but I think you will find it really difficult. I wouldn't worry too much, just keep an eye that what he does put in there doesn't get too saturated with urine and if it does, throw it out

My Syrian girl does that always and she is healthy and happy. As long as you are changing his toilet regularly it won't affect his health. I think they like to store their food everywhere just in case world come to end

Post Re: Food in toilet

Glad I found this thread, was going to start a new one.

Apollo, is almost 3months and over the last week he has started to store bits of food in the corner which he uses as a toilet area. Just been keeping an eye on the food stored there, and if saturated I remove. He seems to pile it high on top of each bit of food as if he's making something...he is a funny one!

Appreciate any comments if this is the best way to deal with it, don't want to stress him out by removing all the food he stores in that corner. He also stores food in his nest too!

I just kept taking it out if it was messy or moving it to somewhere else. He now has two food stores, one for his daily mix and one for treats. He's still using the same place to go to the toilet but he has stopped putting food there.

Daisy puts food in her potty but after few hours it's back in her bowl or in her house. My boyfriend fixed her house the other day and she took food out of there and put it in potty. She hates people touching her things, hates change and clean outs.

My Syrians do it every once in a while. I just thought it was the equivalent of blokes taking a newspaper to the loo....

Ha ha ha...that's very funny!!!!

Well day 1 of moving Apollo's food in the other corner and its still there...all good. Guess will have to see how he gets on...he's still using his usual corner as his potty area which is good.

Oh Char your little ones are lovely...very adorable!

Spoke too soon Apollo (after to and fro-ing) from corner to corner has opted to using the corner where his food is as a toilet.

Still has a food store in nest which I do hear him nibbling on, and not using his nest as a potty which is good
