Crying in her sleep?
Peach, one of my new Syrians, seems to do a lot of crying in her sleep. Well, not really crying, more like squawking? gulping? grunting? I'm having trouble describing the sound! Throaty noises anyway. She's active and healthy, should I be worried? Would it hurt to wake her up to check on her when she's making these noises?

Re: Crying in her sleep?
I think hamsters can dream as well. Some hammies are just very vocal. If it isnt respy sounding i wouldnt worry x

My Sooty used to do that throughout his life...I think he was just dreaming He'd wake up like nothing had happened while I was panicking! lol

Re: Crying in her sleep?
Oh my gosh I have this same problem!
My new baby (Molly) started doing this today. I changed out her water and accidentally woke her up so she started chattering at me, and now she's gone back to sleep making these 'crying' noises. I really started to panic I thought she was in pain bless her!

Re: Crying in her sleep?
My youngest does this every so often and I've always put it down to dreams!

Re: Crying in her sleep?
Spike does it every now and then, although more frequently when he was a baby. Once we came racing through to his cage because we were sure there was something horribly horribly wrong - he was literally screaming like he was being killed - but when I lifted up his house the little monster was fast asleep!! Since she's otherwise fine I'd put it down to being a 'vocal' sleeper and just her dreaming - hopefully good ones

Re: Crying in her sleep?
My youngest did it a lot as a baby and the first time I heard her, I ran into the room shouting what's up darling, only to see she was asleep - I'll be honest, at first I thought she was being attacked, My heart was in my mouth. Welcome to the joys of a vocal hammie!
