Help! Crazy hyper hamster!
I don't know what's got in to Peach. She woke this evening and groomed herself then suddenly about an hour later she suddenly flew into a tizzy and she's been throwing herself at the cage walls and lid trying to escape! I let her out on the bed with mountains of bedding and my body to try to contain her but she got so frantic I could feel her heart pounding every time I touched her. She was climbing vertical surfaces, even me, I could feel her little claws right through my shirt. I'm worried about her and wondering if anyone has any advice! The only other time I've seen animals act like this is when a pregnant female is nearing labour and desperately seeking a safe place to give birth, but if she is pregnant she can't be that far along, there are just no signs of it! Help!

Ok, pregnant or not, I've given her a flying saucer to run on. That seems to be directing her energy. Whew!

Re: Help! Crazy hyper hamster!
She needs to run. Even if she is pregnant, she should have the wheel. It's only toward the end of her pregnancy that the wheel is taken away. If she is pregnant and is getting close to giving birth you'll know because her nipples will be more prominent.

Re: Help! Crazy hyper hamster!
Ok, I've never had a pregnant hamster before and wasn't sure what to watch for. She can have the wheel and I don't have to worry!
