Default This is a new one!

Tonight Dory has been burrowing in her cage (which obviously is normal), but at the same time rubbing herself against the plastic tray, mainly her face, and making a funny squeaking kind of sound! Anyone? Lol

Lol I don't know, I didn't see it myself. My daughters told me as she lives in their room. I'll ask again because even though they'e 10 & 13 so not little kids, they may have it wrong on what part of her body she was rubbing!

The eldest daughter said it was definitely her head she was rubbing and it was in the corner of the cage where she normally wee's so I don't know what that's all about lol

lol fair enough... Theres a chance theres a reason for it but if shes otherwise fine then I'd assume she's just proving that she's a hamster and the entire lot of them are bonkers

I think she is bonkers lol! Tonight she's been doing the same thing, frantically rubbing her face and body on the bars of the cage and on everything in her cage too!

It does sound as if she is scent marking and spreading her scent around the cage and area to advertise her presence. She could be in season as they often make a sneezy, whiffy squeaky noise when they call for any young gents to come a courting

I was wondering if that could be it. Is there a section on here for info on seasons?

It sounds to me like she is sent marking and as soufflé said in season, by rubbing her face in the wee pile she is getting scent on that and then rubbing the bars the scent is spreading, just normal little lady looking for love lol
