Default Handling time.

When we get monty out to hold, he tends to just find what he thinks is a great escape route and repeat it every time we put him down.

So, I might start with him on my hand, he'll climb up to my shoulder, run down my back, across the sofa and try and stand on the sofa arm. Of course, I pick him up before he decides to leap Then repeat again and again until I get tired of it and put him back in his ball.

My question is, is this time out helping him become more socialised, despite the fact he doesn't show much of an interest in us and always tries to escape? He is tame- doesn't bite at all and tolerates being picked up very well despite being a little nervous and flighty. He takes food very gently (used to "grab"), will eat it where he is instead of pouching and doesn't seem scared out of his cage at all.

My sister is experienced with animals and says it might be worth doing a lot more handling despite the problems. I know he isn't just going to sit on my hand for half an hour, that's not what they do, but I'd like to make it so he feels comfortable and hopefully he might not get as bored so easily

Default Re: Handling time.

I'd say its still good for him - its still getting him more used to you and the more used to you he gets the better
I'd maybe try and encourage him to walk over hands a little more but any interaction is good in my book
