Default Crazy Chocolate

Our Chocolate ham has always been a nervous girl and I put this down to her being a P@H adoption ham and spending so much of her young life in a tank there.

However, on Sunday I noticed a couple of bugs in her cage so I gave it a good clean. After that she was really nervous and then completely spooked. At first she stood very alert staring at her nest area, then tried desperately to climb up between her bottle and the edge of the tank and got stuck. She was so desperate to get away from something that I had to pull the bottle out and got her out gently to calm her down but she went into overdrive, all legs running and impossible to hold. Poor thing ended up on the laminate floor, all legs still going but getting nowhere.

After I calmed her she spent the rest of the day in her nest, after roaming all over the tank *under* the shavings as if searching for something. She didn't touch her food. Then she was fine yesterday and rather hungry! But quite what spooked her I don't know and I have never seen her so scared.

Silly ham.

Deary me, does sound as though she`s been spooked! Syrians don`t have great eyesight so maybe she actually heard something? Either way, glad she`s settled again. x

Its probably because you completely removed her scent, my Fudge has done this before after I removed his scent with a deep clean. Hams generally act the way yours is when there cage is deeply cleansed, but you did the right thing seeing as there were bugs in the cage. Se seems to be getting back to normally now though so that's good

aww poor thing, hope she feels better today. I once had a hamster that used to climb up to the middle of her cage in the corner and wouldn't move when she was scared,
