my hamster is acting strange

My hamster freezes a lot, he just stops in his tracks and freezes and doesn't move for a while and he always goes into the corners of his cage and digs and bites, I put him in his ball every day for a while so he can run around, but he's just been acting abnormally and I'm worried, I was thinking maybe he really doesn't like his cage, he currently lives in a 20 gallon tank and I want to get him a bigger cage with no wires and holes so I can attach tubes
does anyone know what's going on with my hamster?

the freezing is normally when they've heard/smelt something interesting, so don't worry there, sometimes they dig to dig, and sometimes they want to get out, but that's fine, its just like bar chewing, sometimes they just do x

Sounds like a normal hamster to me honestly.
