Pooping in food store?
My syrian Teemo recently relocated his nest (unknown to us until we moved it thinking he had escaped!) which I think may be down to the heat. He has buried himself under a larger wooden house which has legs, it gives him ample room to sleep in from the looks of things. He doesn't store food in his new nest but poops on his food store in his old plastic house. I am wondering if there is a way to stop it, he has plenty of corners and places to poop and has a clear pee place, but he leaves his droppings in and on either his food store or in his food bowl when it is getting quite empty >< Is it a sign of anything or something which is avoidable?

Re: Pooping in food store?
Hamsters if nes will eat their own poo (it's a natural wild instinct), if they struggle for food at a later date they will eat the poo as they don't take all nutrients in from their food and nutrients are still left in their poo. this doesn't mean you aren't feeding him enough, it is a wild instinct that some hamsters do (that's why you sometimes find a small pile of poo in their hoard corner).

Re: Pooping in food store?
Ah ok! That explains why he throws some out of his house door, but leaves say 3 or 4 in his store. We usually find them scattered around his house just after he has woken up properly for the day just after he has done is "cleaning" XD
