Default New here; Also, questions about my hamster biting?

Hi, I'm new, and I have some questions about my Chinese female hamster. I got her about three weeks ago, and I left her alone in her bin cage for a few days to let her get used to the new surroundings. After that, I began letting her smell me and before long, I was picking her up. She was timid but she never bit, only walked around a lot on my hands. She wasn't really friendly, though, if that makes any sense. I did these holding sessions to try to tame her. A couple of days ago, I let my younger brother hold her (while I was right next to him watching, and he was holding her over the cage, too). For some reason, she bit him pretty hard, and he dropped her. I panicked and picked her up to see if she was okay, but she bit me on the palm and then tried to go for my fingers. I set her back in her cage and left her alone for the rest of the day. The next day, she bit me again when I tried to hold her, and to be honest, I'm quite scared to hold her again because getting bit doesn't feel too hot, even when it's from a two-inch long hamster. Why on earth is she biting? And how can I put an end to it? (I understand that her being dropped probably scared her, but I haven't put any other forms of stress on her before or after that).

I feel for you because Chinese hamsters can be very sweet in nature once tamed and they get to know you. I had a female Chinese and even though she never did bite me, she did tell me in her own way when she did or did not want played with. I knew this because rather than use my cupped hands to pick her up (I did do this sometimes though but only for a quick kiss on the head and put her down again!) I offered her an old pocket hammock to hop into when she wanted to explore. I would use the pocket hammock to allow her to decide. She would then have short sessions either on my bed, or just clambering up my sleeve and getting lost in my long sleeved t.shirt!

I have a YouTube video saved somewhere. I will post it here soon for you to look at. It`s a lovely tutorial that someone made and it really helps view things in a better perspective.

Notice how the owner only keeps her hand near the hamster in short bursts? And doesn`t attempt to lift her before she`s ready.
