Default Taming

Hi I have had my 2 Chinese hamsters for nearly a year now and I haven't really been interested in taming them until now. Is it too late ? And will it be more difficult ? I have tried wearing gloves but they just keep on biting them :/ Tilly has sat on my hand with some food before. Tilly is quite shy and quiet where as Snowy Bear is quite inquisitive and energetic and thinks everything is food I am just worried about them biting me , I know it doesn't hurt much but it might shock me and I don't want to scare them by making any sudden movements please can you help me xxx

My firist hamster used to bite me all the time! I was really scared of her biting me when i got her follow theese steps and your cheecky lil hammys should be tamed worked with myne-
step 1- put them in the bath tube NO WATER its a great place because they cant escape.
step 2- place your hand in the bath let them get use to your smell they may bite just to see if your fingers are food lol. You may want to put a treat on your hand.
step 3- Keep doing this `until they can sit on your hand and eat the treat instead of tacking it away to the other end of the bath tube.
step 4- scoup one at a time up each time getting higer and higer.
REMBER -IT TOOK ME A MONTH TO GET MY OLD HAMMY FROM BITING IT TAKES TIME BE PATIENT good luck!!)

I always hand-feed my hamsters to help with taming. I will also just place my hand in their cage and let them sniff, and even do little nibbles, to "check me out". If they try firmer bites, I simply blow very softly in their direction. The disturbance in the air is a mild correction that will cause them to stop biting, but not scare them. I NEVER strike back with my fingers. I also try a variety of different foods/treats until I find their FAVORITE, then I use that particular food when I first put my hand in their cage to help increase the value of seeing my hand and interacting with me. Here is a video of one of my hand-tame hammies: Sammy the Hammy Does the Teeter - YouTube

Some favorite treats for my hamsters include (each hamster has a different preference): cashews, broccoli, millet spray, and tofu.
