Default Question about Chit-chit-chit noise

Just wanting peoples' opinions. Willow was cuddly last night, letting me stroke her and running all over me without quite as much skittishness. I was then stroking her in her cage, and she was standing still letting me. She had just been running on her new flying saucer. It appears the activity stimulates her bowels - she was pooing a LOT! Perfectly normal, formed poos, just lots in a row following every stint of running Well she had just removed a couple of poos prior to me stroking her, and she started making a sort 'pl-pl-pl' noise with her mouth - closest thing to it I can describe, whilst standing very still. I would say it was medium volume.

Was this just cleaning her mouth after removing the poos, or was this the 'Be careful or I'll bite you' noise? She has had an experimental nibble before, but never an aggressive nip clearly intended as hostile. Her teeth were normal length, and she carried on doing it for a short while after I stopped stroking her and interacting with her. I left her well alone for a few minutes, then stroked her some more once she had stopped doing it and seemed to be moving in a more relaxed, non-vigilant way; and she didn't make the noise or seem bothered at all.

Something like this, but whilst very still.

What do people think?

I think it's when they are nervous, I'm heard Zoro do it before and wondered why XD

Thanks for this Wonder why she suddenly got nervous? Perhaps she just wanted her own space for a while?

You haven't had her for very long and she's probably still a little unsure of you. Maybe you did something that might have come across to her as scary... it could have been as simple as moving your hand when she wasn't expecting it.

Perhaps it was just that. Hard when you can't pinpoint what caused it though! Looking forward to a bit more trust but it's only natural and can't be rushed. She is scared of shadows sometimes, and also of men, so it could have been a reflection, or my partner wanting to watch. Hard on my partner - he loves her and wants to bond with her but it's nowhere near that yet, due to her fear of men!

I've heard Biscuit do this a few times but I was never really sure why.

I've found that the chattering/chuttering noise is what Hadley seems to make when she's slightly stressed and doesn't like something I'm doing (such as moving something)

I think it's their way of saying "Mum stop doing that!"

Funnily enough, that happened recently. Hamchan was running around the sofa and perfectly okay with me stroking him. Then suddenly, he started making the noise - like for me to leave him alone. So I pulled back for a bit and then after a while he was fine. And when he moved away, I saw a couple of poos. I have noticed while he's fine to wash and eat in front of me, he likes to do his poos in private!

That's interesting you say that, AliKati, given the close association with poos for Willow that time. It could have been that. In combination with what others have said about stress and HadleyHam has said about wanting to be left alone, I think on reflection she may have been worn out from all the playtime and wanted some time to relax as well as finish her business - she did the similar face and position last night before going off for a snooze, after which she resumed her normal cage activities.
