Biting / chewing plastic cage

You poor thing! Glad you found her. Hope someone can help with the cage. We keep our Angel in a ZooZone2 which eliminates bar chewing but I appreciate you want to have bars so hope someone can help. Although having said that, there might already be another thread on here with those suggestions... Good luck

thanks everyone for your advice.

She escaped again this weekend. We heard her at 4am scratching around the wardrobe. So the main hole is now even bigger and she's bitten around the wooden coaster. We have a variety of books and wooden toys selotaped over the holes. So I desperately need to get her a new cage which she can't bite / escape from!! How about a ZZ2? Would the 12" silent spinner fit inside?
Or if I get the Hamster Heaven, can i remove the plastic sleeping pod / box on top? (I'm worried she'll bite her way out of that)

I went for the Mickey 2XL as it's the same size as the Hamster Heaven though with a narrower gap between the bars but it doesn't have the penthouse or holes for the external tunnels. Bonus, its slightly cheaper, I guess as it doesn't have all the extra bits. The shelf with it is a wire shelf, so you'd need to cover that or take it out - I actually bought a plastic shelf to use instead but Willow does chew that (it goes almost into the corner but not fully & she wants an access hole to underneath ) Chinchilla Accessories : Savic Plastic Platform Cage Shelf & Matching Ramp Ladder : www.EquineCanineFeline.com the place to buy all your Pet Products, Horse Products and Pet Supplies online Or you could leave a shelf out for now. The 12 inch wheel wouldn't be a problem, though I have to make sure there's not too much substrate under it.

A 12" SS will fit in a ZZ2 but you will have to take it off the stand and make the hole yourself. Thankfully, my OH is a dab hand at cage modifications!

I wouldn't go for a ZooZone cage considering she's chewed her way through a plastic section of a cage already. I've read quite a few threads about hams chewing their way through ZooZones.

I think your best bet is either to go with a glass tank or another wire cage, I really think a glass tank would be the better and safest option though.

Yeah, I'd probably go the glass tank route now. Why spend lots of money on something with plastic she can still chew out of?

The criceti 15 is a victim of cage chewers unfortunately, I'm reccommend either a glass tank or a strong barred cage (such as the hamster heaven, imac criceti 16)
You can look in the hamster cage review section of the forum for ideas.

My Rowena was awful for chewing and just would not stop, I eventually resorted to a glass tank x

I've never seen one of these in person and it's expensive (), but if you like a barred cage I wonder if the Ferplast Gabry is worth thinking about:

Hello, my Syrian Cinnamon ate her way through the zoozone plastic bit! There is a thread called "Quicksteel zoozone repair" under my name as I found a way to stop her doing it and repair the cage. There are photos to help

Conan has made a huge hole in his cage so is in a new one. He doesn't touch the bars though. With Dusty its plastic tube connectors and anything wooden. Popcorn doesn't seem to have started on anything as yet.
