Default Is this normal hamster behaviour?

Hi all, just wondering if this is normal hamster behaviour as none as my previous hamsters ever seemed to do this! When he first gets up he runs around a certain bit of his cage, sometimes goes onto his back (we say that an invisible eagle is trying to get him, lol) and also bites his bars frantically. Bit hard to describe but its like he has sort of a funny 5 mins and he's fine if we get him out but i've always wondered why he does it?

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Im not overly sure as I have only ever had one syrian but to me that doesnt sound at all right. Biting the bars is common in hamsters but it does mean they are bored! What cage is your hamster in?

I'm not worried about it as I've known other animals to have a 'funny half hour'. And I don't think its a boredom thing as its not all the time. Here's his cage:

Just wondering if anyone elses hammies do this?
