Sleeping in Different Places
So Izzy has a 2 floor cage, with the top floor being plastic base to run about on, up there she has some bedding in the corner where she likes to sleep in like a little den area. She has slept there a few times, I have seen her also sleeping on the top floor at the side of her cage without any bedding and now shes in a house on the bottom floor, which has no bedding in because she pulled it all out and is now sleeping there.
Anyone else's hamster does this?

Re: Sleeping in Different Places
Archie has two or three beds on the go at any one time. There are two under each corner shelf at the front and he often has a third back up bed in the rear corner or the cage. I think its so he can just flop where ever he pleases as he moves from bed to bed. It is strange though

Re: Sleeping in Different Places
Magic has two nests, one for warmer and one for colder weather.

Re: Sleeping in Different Places
Yep as the others have said ours also uses two nests but recently prefers her lower deck accommodation.

Re: Sleeping in Different Places
Definately normal
When it's warm Luna will often sleep in her sand bath or toilet and chops and changes between her large nest and the two back corners of her cage. She's currently sleeping in her mini nest, under the bowl nest. Even if she bangs her head on the bowl when she moves

Re: Sleeping in Different Places
Fair enough, Izzy always sits her tube. Whenever shes not doing anything shes sitting by the tube looking around. She fell asleep by it the other day.

Re: Sleeping in Different Places
Cal does this occasionally. Her cage has two floors as well and sometimes I randomly find her huddled into a little ball, asleep on the top floor for whatever reason.
On the ground she has her proper bed, but sometimes she takes all of her bedding out of it and sleeps in the corner.
I've stopped questioning her behaviour now, xD.

I just leave him to it the odd time id lift him up a bit of bedding if he looks cold which somrtimes he appreciates hand others he doesn't show the same gratitude

Re: Sleeping in Different Places
Ezra is the last of the 4 Campbell dwarfs I got last year. As there are 4 wheels on the cage complex, he has a main bedroom in one. But likes to spend lots of his time barricaded in a corner of one of the tubes. Also when out in a ball, he sleeps in different places. But strangely, still prefers a particular spot in my bedroom used by all of the hamsters I ever had.
