Default Should Hamsters be kept where the lights are on at night

We have had our hamster in the Living Room at first but with the dark nights the lights are all on from 4 in the afternoon till we go to bed around midnight or after-could this be why the hamster doesnt leave its nest(unless we get her out ourselves)until we've turned off the lights and gone to bed-do hamsters not like bright electric lights been on?
Would it be best to keep her cage in the dark of our bedroom until we go to bed and then move her into our living room when we go to bed-otherwise we couldnt sleep if the hamster was using its wheel.
We keep the cage in the bedroom by day now & on the evening around nine move the robo into the living room-but she doesnt come out of the nest unless we take her out the nest to handle her-but shes very sleepy still & falls off to sleep on me so perhaps its best to leave the cage in the bedroom until bedtime where its dark and quiet & handle her in there with just a very dim light on.
I know most people keep their hamsters in the living room all the time without moving them-but how do they get on if the lights are all on-do their hamsters just stay in their nests cause of the lights on at night?

My hamsters are all kept in my room, with a light on all night. They have never been bothered by it and are still active
However, I can't say that some might not be affected by it, others may be able to give a different opinion.

The only thing i have seen it affect is my winterwhites coat, I believe the lighting confused their natural coat change. So Squirt was in winter coat during summer and summer coat during winter x

I suppose, if you wanted to try it, use lamps instead of a bright overhead light? Since she might be sensitive to bright lights?

Luna is in our bedroom but the light is left on in there until I go to bed, or my other half does which is often as late as 4 or 5am.

Although she's active when the light is on it seems that she does different things when the light is off - as soon as the light goes off she'll start running on her wheel, burrowing and generally making a mess of her cage.

Olive is in my bedroom. She sometimes gets up when the light is on but normally goes straight back to bed until I put a small lamp on. Once she's been out of her cage for the evening she goes back to bed until all the lights are off (literally starts running in her wheel the second I decide to sleep ). Maybe try some lower lighting in the evening to coax the little one out?

Gryzek has a cage in my room. The lights are on almost all night. Hamsters don't have very good sight; I think they don't mind lights on.

i live in a studio apartment, so i dont really have much options to where i can keep the cage. everything is one big room, and the only "doors" in my apartment is the door to go outside, the closet and cabinet doors, and then the bathroom door. i keep periwinkle on my dresser. it stays pretty dark at night, but not 100% because i have a blue nightlight by the bathroom door. i think she prefers it because she seems to be a "nervous" hamster. she likes to do things in the privacy of her own home without anyone watching her. she won't even start to run unless its dark
