Default Are we just flattering ourselves? lol.

Monsieur McHammington (Mac) had myself and the girls in stitches laughing earlier. He's still in his tank, as I've not managed to get his large cage out yet (need help from the OH!) and I've managed to attached a toy from the top of the tank that hangs down. He was in his bed asleep and moment he heard us, he ran up the swinging toy, up to the top panel of the tank and just sat in there. I opened the lid to check he was ok and he kept putting his head out to look at us and then going back in again. I stroked his head a couple of times which was fine (beaing in mind he's had little handling) and then when I closed the lid, he climbed back down into his bed again. He's done that twice today when we've been there but has slept the rest of the time... and obviously as humans our reaction is that he's liking the attention. He's not been aggressive in any way and the haste to get up that rope ladder is incredible!! It was like watching something out of mission impossible! lol. Does it sound like he's trying to get away from us by going high (although he showed no signs of actually hiding, more just looking at us) or do you think its possible he's trying to get our attention?

Hehehe It sounds to me as though he wants attention - most hamsters will beg for attention one way or another. Luna chews her water bottle spout when she wants to come out or if either my other half or I are near her cage she will do her "let me out" dance.

Awww I feel so priviledged now. I felt so sure he was attention seeking. He's just such a dude!! Its just we've been used to the mice and they do like being handled but obviously live in groups so are more dependant on each other. I'm just loving having him and the other 2 so much! My other half had a total look of dispair earlier when we went to get our weekly mouse and dog food and I specially selected food for the hamsters as I didn't want them having any old rubbish!! LOL. Plus I've upgraded Mac's wheel to a larger one (rolled eyes from oh again! lol) I'm itching to get the cage out but gotta wait!! Grrrr!! LOL. x
